The good girl complex by the renowned author of the outlaws series, Elle Kennedy. In 2022, romantic beach life discusses a story of an innocent girl meeting a bad boy. Those who enjoy the contemporary romance genre and love the relaxed, casual, and fun tone will find enjoyment while reading this novel.
Mackenzie Cabot also called Mac introduce. Mac is a pleasing person who is determined to stick to the rules and make sure that her family is safe. Although she nourishes high aspirations and dreams, she decides to pursue the college at the place chosen by her parents, Avalon Bay. Although a temptation for Mac to go along with her wild side but she is skilled at keeping such tendencies in check.
Nevertheless, her meeting with Cooper the infamous local bad boy, forces Mac to test her boundaries. Cooper is the essence of everything Mac tries to steer clear of- imperfect, direct and rough. However, their casual acquaintance becomes deep friendship, and Mac is fascinated by Cooper charm. It is also clear that they live on opposite ends of town. Mac lives a luxurious life but Cooper hates wealthy college peoples including Mac.
Although these differences exist, their relationship grows and Mac becomes a crucial figure in Cooper life. Nevertheless, a hidden danger threatens to destroy the newly formed relationship. What secret Cooper is hiding and will Mac be able to accept it?
During the last month, I chose to read this first Elle Kennedy novel because I am always seeing her books on the Instagram feeds. Sadly, in the rush of this busy time, when I started Bad Girl Reputation, I did not have a chance to read its previous book. The holiday season started and I took the opportunity to read a bunch of books and Good Girl Complex had to be the first one on the list. Despite the fact that I am glad to have it at last, I have to say that it is an ordinary love story.
Good Girl Complex left me slightly unsatisfied and confused after I read it. While this Elle Kennedy blockbuster is immensely praised, I could not understand what was so special about it. Perhaps, I was setting too high hopes or just did not have appropriate mindset for this particular read. However, I liked the atmosphere of the seaside which reminded me of the village by the sea where I now live.
The positive aspect of Good Girl Complex was that Avalon Bay had a homely feel. The series of a contemporary romance story taking place in a seaside college setting where the class issues are very prominent was interesting and I believe Kennedy did a good job in addressing the issues in the first book of the series.
In the Instagram world, the Good Girl Complex is talked a lot which is compared to the after series and with the Outer Banks television show, which I absolutely loved. Although there is some validity to the comparison to the Outer Banks, I cannot offer any perspective on after series because I have not read those books. Yet, I did observe that Good Girl Complex follows a typical romance storyline. The story by Elle Kennedy is quite comforting and predictable to readers who are familiar with the genre.
The use of complications is done cleverly, providing an interesting dimension that made me want to stay with the story. One of the most striking features is the clear development of the characters throughout the story and Kennedy manages to develop her protagonists smoothly.
Though it is possible to predict the development of Good Girl Complex, its obvious plot makes it easy to understand. However, a few sensually charged scenes are included but personally, I am not attracted to this direction. On the other hand, I agree that this saucy part fits the whole love story.
As you travel to the beautiful Avalon Bay do not forget to put your towel, a cool hat, fashionable sunnies and a sun cream bottle. Elle Kennedy latest blockbuster, Good Girl Complex will deliver a summer story of love, social classes, social complexities and sizzling summer nights.
