“Never Never by Colleen Hoover” Book Review

In today’s post I would like to offer my views on Never Never by Colleen Hoover, a romantic novel that is not only stirring and captivating, but also deeply mysterious.I picked up this book because I was intrigued by the premise: two teenage lovers who are both so taken aback with the loss of their memory and of each other.

Alright, I have to share that I was a little saddened by the book. Nothing off the mark, the writing was great and characters were certainly intriguing but for me the plot was too much of a headache and difficult to follow. The book is split into three parts which each part ends with a climactic pause that does not seem to resolve anything.

I don’t mind them but not like this one when the story seemed to stop and there were a lot of questions that remained unanswered. It also bothered me that the book had been written by another author, Tarryn Fisher, who wrote all the chapters from a male point of view. The two voices did not appear to complement each other as well and in certain areas they were contradictory.

The only factor that made me persevere until the bitter end was the hope that everything would come together in the end, but alas my hopes were in vain as I was met with final twist. I won’t ruin it for you, but let it be known that if something is not even a little bit like real life, or does not give satisfaction, then the problem. The narrators appeared to me like they had no idea where their story would end up and simply added a explanation that was irrelevant to the rest of the novel.

Thus, in conclusion I would not suggest this book to the person who tries to find a consistent and complete mystery. I am sure it might be interesting for some readers of Colleen Hoover, who like her romance and melodramatic style, but for me it was a waste of time and money. It receives two stars from me.
