“Heart Bones” is a novel by Colleen Hoover that tells the story of Beyah Grim, a young woman who has had a tough life. After her mother dies of an overdose, Beyah is left with no choice but to spend the summer with her missing father in South Texas. There, she meets Samson, a tall, handsome youth who reveals he will be leaving for the Air Force Academy in August. 

Apart from the differences, they are drawn to each other and agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. However, as their relationship grows, they must deal with the social and legal differences their class differences make.

Review

“Heart Bones” is a novel exploring love, loss, and self-discovery themes. The story is narrated from Beyah’s viewpoint, and the reader gets to see her journey of healing and growth. The characters are nuanced, and the romance between Beyah and Samson is sweet and heartwarming.
