MY THOUGHTS:

While I have immense admiration for Colleen Hoover’s writing prowess, her book “Layla” unfortunately didn’t strike a chord with me. As someone who typically shies away from paranormal and spooky stories, I was a bit apprehensive about diving into this one.

However, my loyalty to Hoover’s writing and her ability to craft compelling stories led me to give it a shot. Upon reading, I found the plot and concept to be undeniably intriguing, and Hoover’s signature writing style was still evident.

Nevertheless, I struggled to form a strong connection with the characters, particularly Leeds, whose likability was questionable for me throughout the book. I spent a significant amount of time trying to decide whether he was a redeemable character or not, and even now, I’m still unsure.

The recommendations for this book were wildly mixed, with some people absolutely loving it and others vehemently disliking it. I went into it with an open mind, hoping to find a hidden gem.

Unfortunately, it didn’t quite resonate with me the way I had hoped. Despite this, I recognize that fans of paranormal stories may find this book to be a real treat, and for that reason, I would still recommend it to those who enjoy the genre.
